Waiting on Wednesday # 24

"Waiting on" Wednesday is  a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases in which we are eagerly awaiting.

Kait's pick:
Teenagers with powers? Sold. And the love story sounds quite intriguing too.

Pulse (Pulse, #1) Pulse - Patrick Carman
Exepected Publication: Feb 26th 2013

Goodreads Blurb:
From New York Times bestselling author Patrick Carman, a teen fantasy-adventure of epic proportions. In 2051, some teens have a “pulse,” the power to move objects with their minds. Compulsively readable, with thrilling action scenes and a tender love story.

The year is 2051, and the world is still recognizable. With the help of her mysterious classmate Dylan Gilmore, Faith Daniels discovers that she can move objects with her mind. This telekinetic ability is called a “pulse,” and Dylan has the talent, too.

In riveting action scenes, Faith demonstrates her ability to use her pulse against a group of telekinesis masters so powerful they will flatten their enemies by uprooting street lights, moving boulders, and changing the course of a hurtling hammer so that it becomes a deadly weapon. But even with great talent, the mind—and the heart—can be difficult to control. If Faith wants to join forces with Dylan and save the world, she’ll have to harness the power of both.

Patrick Carman’s Pulse trilogy is a stunning, action-filled triumph about the power of the mind—and the power of love.

Beth's Pick:
Holy shit. This sounds so twisted!!! I can't wait to read this :

Scowler Scowler - Daniel Kraus
Expected Publication: March 13th 2013

 Goodreads blurb:

Imagine your father is a monster. Would that mean there are monsters inside you, too?

Nineteen-year-old Ry Burke, his mother, and little sister scrape by for a living on their dying family farm. Ry wishes for anything to distract him from the grim memories of his father's physical and emotional abuse. Then a meteorite falls from the sky, bringing with it not only a fragment from another world but also the arrival of a ruthless man intent on destroying the entire family. Soon Ry is forced to defend himself by resurrecting a trio of imaginary childhood protectors: kindly Mr. Furrington, wise Jesus, and the bloodthirsty Scowler.

  1. Hmm! Not sure this is my kind of read exactly, but the three protectors are making me curious. Is Ry schizophrenic? Is there something more supernatural going on, maybe because of the meteor? Verrrrrry interesting... :)

  4. Pulse sounds great - great concept, although I'm not loving the blurb - I'm always suspicious when people TELL me that the action is "riveting" - shouldn't I decide that on my own? Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my WoW!
