Beth's Pick:
This
book looks absolutely amazing! Kiersten White is a great author, so I'm
excited to see how this one plays out! I like that its a psychological
thriller too, and not completely paranormal.
Mind Games - Kiersten White
Expected Publication: February 19th 2013
Goodreads Blurb:
Fia was born with
flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always
exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around
her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.
Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways… or risking each other’s lives by refusing to obey.
In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost

Sarah Dessen started my love for YA contemporary way back[we won't say
how long way back really is when I was in high school. I haven't read
her past few books, but I definitely plan on it. And this one sounds too
good to resist.
The Moon and More - Sarah Dessen
Expected Publication: June 4th 2013
Luke is the perfect
boyfriend: handsome, kind, fun. He and Emaline have been together all
through high school in Colby, the beach town where they both grew up.
But now, in the summer before college, Emaline wonders if perfect is
good enough.
Enter Theo, a super-ambitious outsider, a New Yorker assisting on a documentary film about a reclusive local artist. Theo's sophisticated, exciting, and, best of all, he thinks Emaline is much too smart for Colby.
Emaline's mostly-absentee father, too, thinks Emaline should have a bigger life, and he's convinced that an Ivy League education is the only route to realizing her potential. Emaline is attracted to the bright future that Theo and her father promise. But she also clings to the deep roots of her loving mother, stepfather, and sisters. Can she ignore the pull of the happily familiar world of Colby?
Emaline wants the moon and more, but how can she balance where she comes from with where she's going?
Sarah Dessen's devoted fans will welcome this story of romance, yearning, and, finally, empowerment. It could only happen in the summer.

Oh, Vixens, I LOVE your picks!! Both of them look SO good!! I normally prefer paranormal romances, but do venture into more 'normal' types of books from time to time. Sarah Dessen's novel sounds so perfect for lazy summer raad...and the other one sounds like a fascinating journey into the recesses of the human mind! My TBR pile thanks you guys!! Hi! As promised I am following back :D
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Mind Games, either! I loved White's Paranormalcy series, so I'm excited to see if I love this one, too!
ReplyDeleteI've been really curious about Mind Games for a while now, especially because it got really differing reviews. That always makes a book more interesting to me! I read and liked Paranormalcy, but I'm also curious about this completely different approach the author seems to have taken for this book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my post!
Lots of people seems to be waiting for Mind Games :) Hope it's good ;p Great picks :D Hope you will love them both. <3
