This sounds like something I'm going to fall for completely. I am in love with contemporary YA and I think this is going to be a good one.

A nuanced novel in verse that explores identity in a multicultural world.
Emma
Karas was raised in Japan; it's the country she calls home. But when
her mother is diagnosed with breast cancer, Emma's family moves to a
town outside Lowell, Massachusetts, to stay with Emma's grandmother
while her mom undergoes treatment. Emma feels out of place in the
United States. She begins to have migraines, and longs to be back in
Japan. At her grandmother's urging, she volunteers in a long-term care
center to help Zena, a patient with locked-in syndrome, write down her
poems. There, Emma meets Samnang, another volunteer, who assists elderly
Cambodian refugees. Weekly visits to the care center, Zena's poems,
dance, and noodle soup bring Emma and Samnang closer, until Emma must
make a painful choice: stay in Massachusetts, or return home early to
Japan.

Beth's Pick -
I'm so upset, I went to the Boston Dark Days Tour, at Harvard... and Erin Bowman was there. I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL AFTER! Lucky for her, because I would have went all fan-girl on her lol Anyways. This has been on my TBR for soooo long.
Taken - Erin Bowman
Hardcover, 352 pages
Expected publication: April 16th 2013
There are no men in Claysoot. There are boys—but every one of them vanishes at midnight on his eighteenth birthday. The ground shakes, the wind howls, a blinding light descends…and he’s gone.
They call it the Heist.
Gray Weathersby’s eighteenth birthday is mere months away, and he’s prepared to meet his fate–until he finds a strange note from his mother and starts to question everything he’s been raised to accept: the Council leaders and their obvious secrets. The Heist itself. And what lies beyond the Wall that surrounds Claysoot–a structure that no one can cross and survive.
Climbing the Wall is suicide, but what comes after the Heist could be worse. Should he sit back and wait to be taken–or risk everything on the hope of the other side?
